Letter dated December 21, 2006
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The intent of this letter is to advise you that in accordance with guidelines from the Antioch Unified School District, procedures for students that are picked up late from school are in effect.
By law, when a student has not been picked up later than one hour from dismissal and all attempts to reach emergency contacts have been made, the Antioch Police Department will be called to assist the school site. These students are considered to be abandoned. The Antioch Police Department will then notify Child Protective Services. Each incident will be reported.
Additionally, any students that are picked up 15 minutes or later more than three times, will also be reported to Child Protective Services. A letter will be sent home as a follow up. Documentation of late pick up is maintained in the main office. Children who are left at school become anxious, fearful and distraught. Our foremost concern is your child's safety and security.
Please make arrangements for your students to be picked up within 15 minutes of dismissal. You may refer to the monthly newsletter, school fliers, activity phone line, student handbook, school marquee and refrigerator calendar magnet for dismissal times. Please notify the office (925-776-4760), if you will be arriving late due to unforeseen emergency circumstances. Please refer to school fliers, the activity phone line and our marquee for any schedule changes.
Please note that failure to pick up your student at the designated time is in violation of Penal Code Section 272(a).1.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office.
Sincerely,
Didi Del Chiaro
Principal
